Ethics of Sleep and Wake Up

Self-introspection (reflection) a moment before bed. It is highly recommended for every Muslim to pray (self-introspective) a moment before bed, evaluating all the deeds he has done during the day. Then if he gets his good deeds then he should praise Allah SWT and if otherwise then he should immediately ask for His forgiveness, return and repent to Him.

Sleep early, based on a hadith sourced from `Aisyah ra" That Rasulullah SAW slept at the beginning of the night and woke up at the end of the night, then he performed prayers ". (Muttafaq ʻalaih)

It is sunnat to perform ablution before going to bed, and lying on the right side. Al-Bara 'bin `Azib ra said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:" When you are going to sleep, then perform ablution as wudlu' for prayer, then lie down sideways to the right ... "And it does not matter to turn to the left later.

It is also circumcised to shake the sphere three times before lying down, based on the hadith of Abu Hurairah ra that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "If one of you is going to sleep on his bed, then he should put the cloth on his bed first, because he does not know what is on it. ... "In one narration it is said:" three times ". (Muttafaq ʻalaih).

Disgusting sleep deprivation. Abu Dzar ra said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) once passed by me, at that time I was lying on my back. So the Prophet woke me up with his feet while saying:" O Junaidab (Abu Dzar's call), indeed lying like this (lying down) is a way of lying in hell. " . (HR Ibn Majah and judged authentic by Al-Albani).

Makruh sleeping on the floor is not open, because in the hadith sourced from ʻAli bin Syaiban it is mentioned that the Prophet SAW has said: "Whoever sleeps at night on the roof of the house that has no cover, then lose the guarantee from him". (HR. Al-Bukhari in al-Adab al-Mufrad, and judged authentic by Al-Albani).

Close doors, windows and put out fires and lights before bed. From Jabir ra it is narrated that indeed Rasulullah r has said: "Turn off the lights at night when you will sleep, close the door, close the vessels and close the food and drink". (Muttafaq'alaih).

Reading the verses of the Chair, the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, Surah Al-Ikhlas and Al-Mu`awwidzatain (Al-Falaq and An-Nas), because many authentic hadiths that advocate it.

Reading prayers and dhikr whose authentic description is from the Prophet SAW, such as: Allaahumma qinii yauma tab'atsu 'ibaadaka

"O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the Day when You resurrect all Your servants". Read three times. (HR. Abu Dawud and hasankan by Al Albani)

And read: Bismika Allahumma Amuutu Wa ahya

"By calling on your name O God, I die and I live." (HR. Al Bukhari)

If at bedtime you feel surprised or restless or feel scared, then it is sunnat (recommended) to pray with the following prayers:

"A'uudzu bikalimaatillaahit taammati min ghadhabihi Wa syarri 'ibaadihi, wa min hamazaatisy syayaathiini wa an yahdhuruuna."

I seek refuge with the perfect Kalimatullah from His wrath, the evil of His servants, from the interference of Satan and their presence in me ". (Narrated by Abu Dawud and narrated by Al Albani)

When waking up should read:

"Alhamdu Lillahilladzii Ahyaanaa ba'da maa Amaatanaa wa ilaihinnusyuuru"

"Praise be to Allah who has given us life after He killed us, and to Him we are returned." (HR. Al-Bukhari)
